DML - What Can I Do to Prevent Makeup from Clumping while Using This Product?
I would recommend an exfoliation (simple as using a washcloth, cool water, and gently rubbing the skin, no product on). If we have a lot of buildup of dead skin cells, it prevents the product from absorbing correctly, so it most likely sits on the face and does not absorb into the skin.
Research suggests that you let the product fully absorb and dry into the skin (dermatologists recommend waiting 5-10 mins when starting a new routine, the skin may need more time to absorb- it doesn’t mean this happens to all customers). If needed, you can use less of the serum, sometimes it's about trial and error since everyone has their own specific skin textures/moisture levels, etc. I also suggest letting the moisturizer after the serum completely dry.
Depending on the makeup used, it may be sticking/chunking because the foundation is trying to mix w the products instead of laying on top of them. (trying a primer before laying the base foundation should help give a nice base for makeup to lay on.
(1) Start by cleansing with a non-oily cleanser. Avoid using eye cream if possible. If you prefer to use eye cream, allow the product to fully absorb and dry.
(2) Pump out a pea-sized amount on the top of the hand.
(3) Using fingertips or a clean, dry makeup brush, pick up a tiny amount of the product and apply it onto a completely dry eye area for best results.
(4) Using upward strokes, spread a thin layer of the gel onto the under-eye area, crow’s feet, “11” lines between the brows, and beneath and above the brow bone (but not on the moveable eyelid).
(5) Let the product dry for approximately 3 to 5 minutes while remaining expressionless. Do not squint or smile.
(6) If you notice any white residue, moisten a cotton swab (or your fingertip) and remove excess by gently patting the edges.
(7) Once the product is completely dry, you are good to go! You can gently pat on makeup, such as eyeshadow, under-eye concealer or powder. To prolong the effects avoid water-based makeup.
